  • Previous question referred to "parapet formwork" as a superimposed load. Can the formwork and reinforcement bars for the parapet construction be placed on the deck while the falsework is still in place?
    The Designer has no objection to having the parapet formwork and reinforcement bars erected while the slab formwork is in place. The Contractor's formwork design should include these conditions. (06/05/2019)

  • Is parapet formwork considered a superimposed load?
    The parapet load is considered a superimposed load to the superstructure, as it is constructed after the slab has been cured. (06/03/2019)

  • Is the earth material generated from the excavation required for the riprap suitable for Furnished Excavation?
    See earthwork schedule in plans and sec 204 and 205.04 The material in question needs to be evaluated as per the Standard Specifications to be approved for use in the final project embankment. (05/31/2019)

  • Can the PGE be placed behind the abutments before the expiration of the required curing period and the required concrete strength obtained?
    PGE can be placed once the concrete test has reached the point that formwork is allowed to be removed. (05/31/2019)

  • An "expedited work schedule" is referenced on page 1 of the Special Provisions. Will the time requirements of Sect. 503 be strictly adhered to or will there be opportunities to accelerate the concrete structures portion of the work?
    The seven day cure for the concrete slab is still required. It is the Contractor's responsibility to determine other accelerated construction measures that need to be taken to meet the stated deadlines. (05/31/2019)
