  • HMA: Locations 13 and 14 in Wayne County: The existing guardrail posts are driven through the HMA shoulder. Please confirm that it will be acceptable to install the new guardrail by driving the posts through the existing HMA shoulder in the same manner as the existing? Traffic Barrier Terminal Type 1 SPL FLARE Terminals: Please confirm that it will be acceptable to install NCHRP 350 FLARE terminals as there are no MASH approved terminals on the IDOT QPL.
    Guardrail posts shall be installed according to the construction requirements provided in Section 630 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. The current Qualified Products List of Traffic Barrier Terminal, Type 1 Special (dated June 8, 2018), contains a Note regarding NCHRP 350 devices and MASH devices only on the Traffic Barrier Terminal, Type 1 Special (Tangent). This note is not applied to Traffic Barrier Terminal, Type 1 Special (Flared). (06/03/2019)

  • AISC: Weak Post Guardrail: Will the posts for this item need to be fabricated by an AISC CERTIFIED shop as per Article 106.08 of the Standard Specifications?
    The fabrication requirements for these items are specified in Section 630 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. (06/03/2019)
