  • MASH Tangent Terminals: Please advise if the tangent terminals will be required to be MASH approved that will be attaching to NON-MGS guardrail systems. IF yes, please add a pay item for Vertical Adjust GR, 25 LF per MASH terminal, to transition from the MASH terminal down to the NON-MGS guardrail.
    The Department is in the process of issuing an addendum, please monitor the website for the addendum. (06/05/2019)

  • Locations 6, 7, 8 and 9: Please confirm which terminals will be replaced. The four terminals immediately at the railroad track or the four terminals at the approach and departing ends of each run of guardrail. (furthest away from the tracks) How many trains come rolling through each day?
    The four terminals immediately at the railroad tracks are to be replaced for locations 6-9. The number of trains are identified in the posted special provisions. (06/05/2019)

  • HMA vs Aggregate: Locations 5, 19, and 20: The existing guardrail posts are driven through the HMA shoulder. All of these sites call for Aggregate shoulder Type B. Please confirm that it is the intent to remove the existing hard surface, which would require increasing the quantities for Paved Shoulder Removal pay item, and drive the guardrail posts through an aggregate shoulder.
    Please refer to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction for procedures for driving guardrail posts through existing shoulders. (06/05/2019)

  • Locations 37, 38 39 and 40: Is it the intent to remove the median guardrail or only the guardrail on the outside shoulders at these locations? How many trains come rolling through each day?
    This answer should be very similar to Question #3. (06/03/2019)

  • Fence Removal: Please advise where the fence removal location is and a detail or description of the work / what is included in the scope.
    An existing wire fence is to be removed at location no. 12 (W. Frontage Rd. NB, RT at Kavanaugh Rd.; n/o IL 113) in New Lenox, Will County. (06/03/2019)
