  • Will the contractor be required to backfill the exterior of the foundations with dirt or will this be done by the department? If by contractor, will the dirt spoil material be left nearby onsite for this use?
    The contractor be required to backfill the exterior of the foundations and the excavation material will be left nearby onsite for this use. (06/03/2019)

  • Will the contractor be responsible for augering the holes for the stair foundations?
    Yes. The work is shown in the plans with no indication that the contractor is not responsible for this work. (06/03/2019)

  • Please confirm that no grading or foundation excavation will be required by the contractor
    Minor grading of the floor slab may be required to provide a 6" minimum thickness of CA-6 under the floor slab - per note on sheet #14. However, it is the intent of the Department that excavation will be completed prior to the contractor starting forming for the concrete work. (06/03/2019)

  • what finish is required on the concrete slab (hard trowel, light broom, float only, other)?
    No specific finish is required - light brooming would be sufficient. (06/03/2019)

  • Note on sheet 15 states contractor to verify grades at each stair location and adjust number of risers and length of support columns as required. If this length increases from what is shown on the plans will the contractor be compensated?
    The contractor will be compensated according to Article 505.13 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. (06/03/2019)

  • can the department excavate the footings neat for bank pouring without forming the footings?
