  • Please clarify if the owner will be supplying the lighted runway closure barricades or if contractor will need to provide these.
    The Contractor is responsible for supplying, maintaining, moving and removing all barricades, markers and lighted “X’s required for construction. All costs incidental to the contract. (07/22/2020)

  • Under remove and replace HMA Pavement then under the materials section “sand mix crack repair.” Then under 401915-3.4 it states “the replacement pavement shall consist of bituminous surface course conforming to the specifications of section 401” so where does the sand mix crack repair play into this pay item.
    The reference to sand mix repair in section 401915-2.1 of the Materials section of Remove and Replace HMA Pavement does not apply to this pay item and should be stricken. All sand mix repair shall be completed per Item 201663 – Sand Mix Repair as shown in the special provisions and per the detail on Sheet 13. (07/21/2020)

  • Leveling is it going to be around 1" thick?
    The thicknesses of Bituminous Surface Course used for leveling can be derived from the Bituminous Milling, Overlay and Shoulder Grade Tables on plan sheets 30 and 31. After the nominal 2’’ milling, the leveling course thickness can be as little as a scratch coat to as much as 10’’ (in an isolated area near the crosswind Runway 9-27). However, the vast majority of the leveling course thickness ranges between 2.5”-3.5”, with an average around 3.0”. (07/21/2020)

  • The specials Provisions have inserted in Appendix A, both Policy memorandum 96-2 (Marshall) and Policy Memorandum 2003-1 (Superpave). Can you verify no marshall hammer will be needed and we will be following Superpave specifications.
    The project shall utilize Superpave (Method II) for the production, placement, and acceptance of the bituminous surface course per Specification 401 – Bituminous Surface Course – Superpave (Method II). No Marshall hammer will be needed. (07/21/2020)
