  • Can I submit a precast quote pertaining to the 180' section of 10x6 box culvert. Perhaps it's worth just a look.... We believe we can make this economically convenient - given the location of project. I understand CIP is the "preference" of the county but precast options should be considered as well here. Thanks!
    The successful low-bid Contractor has the option of presenting value engineering proposals to the Engineer upon award of the contract. The County has been clear in previous responses to this matter (12/18/2020)

  • 50901050 Steel rail, Type SM: Rail overhang- On Plan sheet 17 it calls for a 4"-1" overhang past the last bridge post. Since there are TBT Type 6A terminals connected to the SM rail this Standard calls for a 3'-9" maximum spacing from the last bridge post to the first Guardrail post. Could you please confirm the SM layout and overhang required to meet this criteria? Thanks.
    The typical overhang length of the SM Rail was purposely extended to 4'-1" (double the 2'-0 1/2'') to allow the first post of the TBT Type 6A to miss the bridge wingwall. (12/16/2020)

  • Why is precast not allowed?
    Precast Culvert options are not allowed. The cast-in-place option is the preference of Macoupin County. (12/09/2020)
