  • Is the guardrail to be Removed and Re-Erected constructed with 6’ posts or 9’ posts?
Based on information from previous plans, it appears to have 6' posts. (10/31/2018)

  • The new shoulder is shown to be 12' wide which would make it run past the guardrail. When the guardrail is reinstalled should the posts be driven through the asphalt to match the existing or should it be cored and filled per sheet 2 of standard drawing 630006?
The guardrail posts should be driven through holes cored in the completed shoulder. The void around each post should be backfilled with earth or aggregate and capped with 3 inches of HMA or grout. (10/29/2018)

  • Is there any soils information available for the existing in situ materials?
Yes, two investigative borings were completed at Sta. 199+50, 18' and 64' Rt (east) of centerline. The information is included in the Special Provisions. (10/16/2018)

  • Is all of the excavation suitable for embankment?
Yes, the excavation is suitable for embankment (once disked and dried), but will not be allowed to be used on this project. It has a high moisture content so it’s most likely unstable without disking and air drying. There’s not room on ROW for disking so it is planned to waste the excavation off site and bring in furnished excavation to build the embankment. (10/16/2018)
