  • The special provisions include check sheet 27 "Restoring Bridge Approach Pavements Using High-Density Foam". Pay item X0326223 is also included. Plan notes on Sheet 7 state "Nonshrink Grout to be used to fill void under approach shoulder. This will be paid for under Foam, Expanding Polyurethane, High Density". Is high density foam required, or is the intent of the pay item to just fill the void with nonshrink grout? Also, how will the grout be measured?
    The intent is to fill in the voids under the approach shoulder without lifting it back to grade using high-density foam in pounds. The quantity was calculated using the rate of 6.0 lb/cu ft in the recurring special provision check sheet #27. (07/27/2022)

  • Pay Item X0326223 – Foam, Expanding Polyurethane, High-Density is setup for the approach pavements. On plan sheet 7 of 15 the note says “Nonshrink Grout to be used to fill void under approach shoulder." Since the note says “fill void” is the intent to pour grout from edge of pavement under the pavement to fill the void rather than drilling holes in approach pavt and pumping grout under the slab to lift the approach back to grade? Should the pay Quantity be a CY pay item rather than pound?
