  • With only one Mobile Barrier Trailer for this project, what is to be used if multiple crews are working in order to meet working day completion?
    IDOT will work with the awarded Contractor to determine the best layout once we have a progress schedule. (09/14/2022)

  • IDOT traffic control standards are designed to alert the motoring public while providing a safe work zone. In reviewing the traffic standards included with this project, the Mobile Barrier Trailer is not illustrated in any of them. Please provide a detail as to how ‘specifically’ it is to be utilized in a typically spread out guardrail operation OR confirm the use of the Mobile Barrier Trailer is ‘optional’.
    The Mobile Barrier Trailer is not optional and shall be used within the traffic control and protection shown in the plans as an added layer of protection for the workers. (09/13/2022)

  • Broadway Connector Plan Sheet 5: Please provide AS BUILT drawings for the roadway and guardrail, as there appear to be many posts located within / encapsulated in the curb line, OR will the extraordinary means needed to install the guardrail be compensated, along with likely unknown modification to the curb, be paid under Article 109.04?
    As-builts are not available for these locations. The posts should be behind and not within the existing curb. The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (09/08/2022)

  • Item X7010100 Traffic Control is a 2 Each Pay Item: Traffic Control pay items are usually a lump sum items. Please confirm that this item will be utilized for the Median Guardrail, one lane closure in each direction (both sides of the guardrail) and each direction of traffic will be paid as 1 EACH, getting us to the Plan Quantity of 2 EACH.
    The quantity was calculated based on the locations it is to be used for. One (1) for location #1 and one (1) for location #3. (09/08/2022)

  • The majority of the Median Guardrail Type D is positioned in a HMA shoulder. Please provide AS-BUILT drawings for the shoulders OR identify the depth of HMA under the Guardrail Type D.

  • Median Guardrail Type D at Location MP 3.98 on plan sheet 8: Will it be acceptable to drive the new Guardrail Type D posts into the existing large diameter holes without the need for modifying the PCC shoulder?

  • Will it be acceptable to drive the new Guardrail Type D posts into the existing holes that remain, after the existing guardrail has been removed, without the need for coring the HMA shoulder, OR will coring be required?

  • Everywhere SPBGR TYPE D is located, the schedule lists the same quantity of SPBGR TYPE A, 6FT POSTS. Shouldn't the Type A ,6 ft. Posts be deleted at these locations, reducing the total Type A, 6 ft. Posts quantity by 9825 ft.?
