Because this is a parking lot can the mix be sampled at the plant? Are cores still desired as well?

The plans show the existing thickness of HMA to be 1.5” to 3.5”. Is the intent to remove all existing HMA in the milled area and then prepare the existing aggregate base for new 3” HMA?

The intent is to prepare the milled area for a uniform 3” of HMA. The plans show the existing surface as variable depth. If it is deeper than 3” then the 3” should be the max depth unless decided otherwise upon inspection. Areas less than 3” should be prepared to the 3” per plan creating a uniform surface. (02/22/2023)
Typically District 2 allows the option of a 9.5 N50 FG and 9.5 N50 Surface. Can that option be put in the mix table as its normally done?

A substitution of IL 9.5 mix for the specified IL 9.5FG mix is allowable. (02/22/2023)
